Her Stone, His Birthstone: Kenneth's Alexandrite & Ruby Rings

From the Bench · A Luther's love story

Some couples come to us once. Kenneth came back.

The first time, it was for an engagement ring. He knew exactly what it needed to say: her stone in the middle, his stone beside it, and a little nod to a certain animated pair of gems who are stronger together. We built it in rose gold with an alexandrite center, rubies at her side, and leaves running down the band.

In his words, the idea was simple:

"I wanted her stone (alexandrite) to be the center piece of the ring while being enamored by my birth stone (ruby) on the side."

Back for the bands

This spring he came back to us, with a wedding set for the last week of June. The ring had been holding up beautifully, he said, and the two of them love telling everyone the story behind it.

So the bands had to tell the same story. Two matching 5mm bands in rose gold, each with a channel of alexandrite and ruby set side by side, and the same leaf detailing carried over from the engagement ring. Kenneth's direction was clear: stick with the rose gold, no design changes. Keep it theirs.

When the design model came back, his answer was the kind we love most: "No tweaks would be necessary."

Lost for words

The bands were finished in May, and our team sent over the final photos and videos before they shipped. Kenneth's reply came within minutes: the two of them were lost for words, and the details were "really captivating." Days later the box arrived, and the verdict was in: "They look even better in person!"

Then came the wedding, under a wooden pavilion by the water, with summer green all around.

The rock and the foundation

We asked Kenneth for a line or two about what the rings mean. He gave us this:

"She is my rock and I'm the foundation that's makes sure to always keep the love and appreciation flowing."

And this, which made our whole studio smile:

"I'm happy of how far along we've come from two knuckleheads in our late teen years and now we are in our late 20s."
